My new collection of 35 bright, bold, original landscapes and florals is available.
The hours, days, weeks and months have flown by, as I have been unshakeably happy, painting away in my shed, immersed in the colour and texture of paint. In the shorter days of the winter months, I made my way to the beach to the water’s edge and watched the slowly sinking sun, blending the colours of the union of the sky and the sea, like sorcery in the sky, as the daytime transforms into evening and the star studded sky magically appears.
As the months tick by and the low spring tide has its turn, with the warmth of the returning sun that recharges my happy soul. I start the day with the need to explore: 1 2 3 let’s go into the Downs, today’s playground, and take in Sussex’s beautiful stage, the endless vista of rolling hills and its coastline with its grandeur of chalk. Wandering up from the cliff path, I stop for my thoughts and take in the honey days of warmth and longer light with their sherbet interlude.
Dotted about the landscape, giving me a reason to smile are self seeded little pops of colour. These flowers of delight are flourishing away with their boundless blossoms, catching my eye everywhere I look. Nature is awake again, after the winter’s hibernation. The buds and stems have power to burst through the ground and entwine together; today is a good day for bees. I study the petals and leaves of the little carefully gathered nosegays and tussie mussies, laying colourful brush marks on canvas, capturing their proudness and full of purpose.
Meanwhile, the Earth revolves so the Sun no longer sets over the sea. It shifts across the sky so the last rays are now over the mismatched fields giving you that mood boosting, iridescent moment. The nights are clear as a bell. It’s time for the land of nod and I whisper to my small people - goodnight my loves.
