Faye Bridgwater is an award-winning British artist renowned for her bold, contemporary paintings that celebrate the beauty of nature. Based in the United Kingdom in the coastal city of Brighton, Faye is celebrated for her ability to capture the essence of landscapes and florals through her dynamic, expressive compositions. Her work, infused with movement, light, and colour, offers viewers a joyful and evocative connection to the natural world.

Faye’s floral paintings are particularly striking, embodying her love for the unrestrained vibrancy of flowers and foliage. She finds endless inspiration in the tangled beauty of nature, translating it onto canvas with an energetic palette and gestural mark-making.

Her landscapes are captivating, drawing from the ever-changing coastal vistas of Sussex and the skies that stretch beyond. Using bold shapes and sweeping brushstrokes, Faye captures the energy and rhythm of the natural world, creating works that resonate with a sense of place and timelessness.

With a strong foundation in the arts, Faye’s journey began in Watford, where she studied Fine Art at college, before moving to Sheffield to complete her degree in Sculpture. This background in form and texture continues to inform her layered, tactile approach to painting. Her career has flourished, with her work exhibited in prestigious venues such as the Saatchi Gallery, Glyndebourne Opera House, and Middle Temple in London.

Her many accolades include the John Purcell Paper Prize (Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours) and the Derwent Art Prize (People’s Choice Award). She has been twice honoured at the Brighton Artists Open Houses, winning Best Artist and Best Open House. Her art is widely sought after and is featured by art publishers, King & McGaw, as well as John Lewis. In the high-profile Shaun by the Sea charity auction, her piece Bloom raised a record breaking £25,000 for Martlets Hospice.

Faye has also embraced social media as a sketchbook and archive, offering followers a chance to see behind the scenes, interact and sharing the journey of her paintings from blank canvas to gallery wall. In 2024, she introduced November Squares, a global art challenge designed to inspire creativity and encourage artists to explore new ideas, using Sketch Squares, a tool created by Faye and now used by artists, creatives, and schools worldwide.

Faye’s influence extends far beyond her studio. As the founder of the Brighton Skies Facebook group, with over 64,000 members, she fosters a community dedicated to appreciating the beauty of the sky. She is also a respected voice in the art world, having been invited twice as a guest on the popular podcast Art Juice. Most recently, she was appointed as a judge for the Guildford House Open Exhibition and selected as a guest tutor for the St Ives School of Painting.

For collectors, galleries, and art enthusiasts, Faye’s paintings offer not just works of art, but windows into the fleeting, profound beauty of the world. Her ability to transform everyday landscapes and florals into bold, unforgettable compositions makes her one of the most exciting contemporary British artists working today. Her work continues to be recognised for its originality, emotional resonance, and ability to transport the viewer to moments of pure joy and wonder.

Faye’s studio is a shed at the end of her garden, a charming, cluttered haven brimming with creativity. Its paint-splattered walls and floor are a testament to the joy and excitement she pours into every brushstroke, making it a space where ideas come to life with boundless energy.
